‘The Developing Process: The sculptor’s education in drawings and photography’ exhibition in Leeds

December 4, 2009

‘The Developing Process: The sculptor’s education in drawings and photography’ is a new exhibition currently on display at the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds. This is an exhibition that is attracting the attention and interest of many different artists involved in the creation and appreciation of art in many different forms.

The exhibition uses drawings and photographs to explore the education of a sculptor from the late nineteenth century up to the middle of the twentieth century and how this has changed and remained the same during this long period of time. The materials used in this exhibition provide a fascinating insight into how these sculptors learned and excelled in the creation of sculptures. Photographs, drawings and also other materials have been taken from the archives of various different sculptors to create this exhibition effectively.

The creators of this exhibition hope that visitors will not only enjoy looking and exploring the materials on display but they will also gain an understanding of the different approaches to art education and how these approaches vary and are also the same in some ways.

This exhibition one again highlights the importance of art within our lives and the significance of drawings and photography in helping us to capture important information. The photographs in this collection are able to communicate a great deal of information and display it effectively.

This photography exhibition is on display at Mezzanine Gallery, Henry Moore Institute, Leeds until 10th January 2010 and admission is free.
