Bradford artwork on display in New York art gallery

December 8, 2009

‘Housewives with Steak Knives’ is a piece of art created by British artist Sutapa Biswas. It was produced by Biswas when she was studying at Leeds University. It is currently owned by Bradford Council but has been selected to be displayed in the Neuberger Museum which is located in New York. The piece will be displayed as part of the ‘British Subjects: Identity and Self-Fashioning 1967 – 2000’ exhibition.

This artwork will be on display with around 60 other pieces of art that make up this collection. The collection includes paintings, photography, sculptures and videos. This exhibition hopes to get visitors considering the idea of British-ness and how this has been changing in recent years. This idea is explored through photographs and other artwork in order to get people thinking about nationality and identity.

Paintings and photographs can be an effective way of communicating ideas and messages and this can be particularly useful in business. If you are looking to have photographs created for the promotion of your business then working with a commercial photographer is recommended. A creative photographer can create images that are not only useful in advertising but that are also pieces of artwork too. If you are a keen collector of art in the form of photographs then working with a professional could be highly useful and productive.

A creative photographer in Leeds or other cities in the UK will be able to produce photographs for commercial purposes or as pieces of art to add to your collection.
