Prison setting for new photography exhibition

A very different location has been chosen for a new art exhibition in Leeds and it is creating mixture of interest, curiosity and praise. Armley Prison, Leeds has been chosen as the perfect setting to display the photography exhibition ‘Comings and Goings’ which features the work of photographer Casey Orr.

The large canvases that make up the collection feature photographs exploring the idea of community and migration in Leeds. The photographs have been placed on walls on both the inside and outside of HMP Leeds (more…)

UKPlus Leeds photography competition winner announced

The recent winner of the UKPlus photo competition has been announced and has received a lot of praise from the judges involved in the contest. The photograph ‘Dawn Rising’ was chosen to be the best of the numerous images that were sent in. An impressive 5,548 photographs were entered and over 165,000 votes were received. ‘Dawn Rising’ was taken by Andrew Wheatley who currently resides in Devon, England and Andrew received £1000 for winning first place.

These competitions are held regularly offering people the opportunity to share their photographs with others. Not only does this allow people to display their photographs but also gives them a chance of winning prizes for their images too. Photographs are to feature a location in the UK and can be taken of anywhere you like within the UK. National Media Museum exhibition in Leeds

If you are looking for an entertaining yet informative day out, the National Media Museum in Leeds could be a great choice. Entrance to the museum is free and inside you will be able to explore the world of photography amongst others including television, film, internet and radio.

One photography exhibition currently on display at the museum is ‘In England’, created by the photographer Don McCullin.
