How to find current photography competitions

Photography competitions can be fun and are also a great way of developing your photography skills further. Ideas and guidelines provided by a photography competition can encourage you to take your photography in a new direction and try things that you would not otherwise have attempted.

Another advantage of entering photography competitions is that it gives you the opportunity to share your work with many others and may gain you a lot of respect and credibility within the photography community. There is also the chance that your photographs may be awarded a prize when you enter a competition and whilst entering photography competitions is often about more than just winning, it is always encouraging and pleasing to be recognised for your work.

Food photography is an exciting part of commercial photography that appeals to many creative photographers. The job of a food photographer involves the photographing of food for commercial purposes. These photographs may feature in magazines, recipe books, billboards, menus and flyers and can be a very significant part of an advertising campaign. Becoming a food photographer requires a lot of skill, knowledge and practice.

The development of the Stanford camera

Scientists Marc Levoy and Andrew Adams have recently revealed that they have been working to create a camera that could result in major changes in the world of digital photography. The Stanford camera is the piece of equipment they have created and it is an open-source camera, meaning this camera has been made so that programmers will have the opportunity to add their very own software to it.  This enables them to teach the camera to be able to carry out tasks that would not otherwise be possible.

Photography workshop in Italy announced

Kubota Image Tools has announced it plans to hold another photography workshop. These workshops have proven immensely popular and successful in the past and this is the fifth workshop carried out by Kubota Image Tools.  The experience gained from the previous workshops promises to make this one even better than before. The workshop will take place in Tuscany, Italy in May 2010 but to ensure a place on this course photographers are being encouraged to secure their places at the workshop quickly.
