Double Take – Crown Prince Felipe ‘photoshopped’?
May 12, 2010
Portraits of Spain’s Crown Prince Felipe have been taken to celebrate his recent promotion to captain in the navy, and lieutenant colonel in the army and air force. However, according to El Mundo, Spain’s second largest daily newspaper, the creative photographer may have photoshopped the results.
The Royal family was asked by the media whether the Prince had had his image changed using digital editing software, because each of the pictures showed Prince Felipe in a different uniform, but his face looking similar. So similar, in fact, that the Spanish newspaper investigated more thoroughly. They layered three of the photographs on top of each other, and when they did so found small differences in the Prince’s pose in each photograph, and Prince Felipe’s face was deemed to be identical in each portrait.
Had the creative photographer used different pictures of the Prince and superimposed the same image of his head onto each? The newspaper was quick to condemn the mistake. In a recent article they said,
“It is not something of great importance, but it is something that should not have happened”
The Palace and the photographer were equally quick to deny the newspaper’s claims saying,
“There is no question of Photoshop being used”
Using quality pictures taken by a professional commercial photographer should ensure the best results for every purpose. In the United Kingdom there are commercial photographers in Leeds, in London, in fact all over the country, and there are also nationwide studios with photo-shop software for when it is deemed appropriate.
