How to be ready to take the perfect photograph
June 22, 2009
When taking a photograph for any reason, it is important that we are ready at just the right time in order to capture the image as we want it. This can be a difficult thing to do and can require a lot of practice. Commercial photographers have many ways to ensure that they take the perfect shot and photograph a person or object in the best possible way.
One of the most basic ways to ensure that you take a great photograph of something is to take many different photos of the same thing. Move around, change your angles and positions and you will be left with many varying images to choose from. Be aware of your surroundings and watch out for any striking moments that could make your image just that little bit better.
In order to take a great photograph of a larger area or object, you may have to move quite a distance and change your position quite substantially. A creative photographer will walk around an area and investigate the possibilities fully before deciding to photograph it. It may be that an elevated position, a position set back far away from the area of interest or a position where certain things are highlighted or blocked may actually be the perfect spot. This can be seen in areas of catalogue photography, food photography and pack shot photography.
You must also be aware of the light and lens that is suitable for the kind of photograph you want to take and make sure that your camera settings are ready too. Keep your camera close and near to your eyes at all times when you are waiting. The perfect shot may only be possible for a few seconds and this will help you make sure you get it.
