Online retailers are finding they need to promote their products in such a way that customers can get a true feel for it, even though it’s on a website. 360 imagery gives products an added dimension by letting you get the full panoramic view of the product – more so than from a still image. By simply clicking and dragging the mouse over the product, you can see what it looks like from all sides. 360 photography can also be used to provide a virtual tour of a place or premises. It’s often used by estate agents when showcasing a property, or by travel websites when promoting a holiday destination.

360 photography works by using a panoramic camera on a rotating mechanism that enables it to shoot the subject in a complete 360 degree view. It links up with computer software that will stitch the images together to create continuous online movies using Flash and gif files.

Using this interactive photography technique usually requires the special skill of commercial photographers, but there is technology available to let amateur photographers try their hand at it too – such as PhotoCapture 360. This piece of technology comes with a computer-operated turntable and system control software which works together with a digital camera to take up to 200 images of the product at various angles. However, it is only designed to shoot small products up to a weight of 25lbs so would have limited use in the commercial world.

However there are plenty of 360 photographers in Leeds and around the UK letting online retailers benefit from their specialist expertise and resources.

Successful product photography should convey the main features of the product so it can clearly shine through in the image and communicate the features you want to highlight. However, being able to capture this is not just a simple of matter of pointing and shooting at the product. It requires careful planning and attention and involves several key elements. Below are just a some of the simple tricks of the trade that product photographers in Leeds use to take those winning product shots:

• Using a white or plain background will help to enhance the product. Too much activity or ‘noise’ will detract from the product

• Avoid direct sunlight when shooting products as it creates too many shadows. Changing the camera’s setting to a soft focus or shooting inside will the risk of shadows in your images

• Using a tripod will prevent blurry shots. Simply placing the camera on a hard surface will not necessarily reduce motion blur so tripods are definitely the most effective option

• Use aperture priority mode on your camera. Position it on the smallest aperture setting to enable a better depth of field which gives a much sharper focus to the product

• Finally – don’t be afraid to use photo editing software such as Photoshop or even Google Picassa, which can be downloaded for free from their website, to perfect your image. In fact photo post production is considered almost as important nowadays as taking the image.

By following these simple steps, you can try the techniques the professionals use in successful product photography.

Professional product photographers have the skills and knowledge to enable them to bring inanimate objects seemingly to life. The results look natural and effortless and it is easy to overlook how much work and skill contributes to a great product photograph. Business people need the skills of professional photographers to sell their products online, as a good photo helps sells merchandise. After all, a photograph on a website is the only visual description that an online vendor can provide for their customer.

The professional product photographer knows that the right background will showcase their client’s product without distracting from the item. They will, more often than not, choose a background without too many patterns and something that will contrast well with the article. For instance, if the item is particularly bright or light then the product photographer may choose a dark background to make the product ‘pop’.

When the product photographer is considering the composition for a photograph, they’ll no doubt think about the function of the product and how they can show the shoppers that’s is the product they have been missing all their lives. The product photographer in Leeds for instance will produce a photograph to enable consumers, countrywide and worldwide, to visualise using the item in question, be it the microwave in the kitchen, or the hat on his or her own head.

The professional product photographer knows that the stage and the background should complement each other to create a scene that showcases the client’s product off to its best advantage.

Creating the right product image, where minimalism rather than clutter is currently fashionable, can produce singular shots, cleverly angled that get the shadows just right. It is the moody atmosphere of film noire that is recreated in a white hallway, where particular items are elongated by clever lighting and shadowing to create more depth and an ethereal quality to the photograph.

Modern furniture is, by its nature, very plain and shadow can soften the sharpness of the piece. Cleverly placed lighting creates the appearance of something far more complex, and time frame photography can also add interest. The predominance of black and white in an image can be interspersed with bits of colour, whether it’s the product that stands out in this way or something unrelated.

Certainly using shadows produces something up to the minute in design terms and the stark white background creates the perfect canvas for the product photographer to do their work. The clever use of mirrors also adds different dimensions to what essentially could be a very plain roomset. The viewer is then allowed a snapshot of life beyond the photograph.

Smaller pretty ordinary products can still be photographed using clever lighting, reflection and long shadows again to create that lure of the film noire to make the subject much more interesting. Whether the subject is a clock, bin, door knob or occasional table, the product photographer uses the shadow to frame the product in a highly provocative and commercial way.

A good commercial photographer in Leeds will certainly be able to use their creative skills to promote your products.

When looking at magazines, we more or less take for granted the crisp quality of the many photographic images that fly out from the page. Whether it’s the sense of place that comes from the art of the roomset photographer, the broad expanse of a holiday landscape produced by the lifestyle photographer, or the stage set piece or still life of the studio photographer – each brings with them their own set of highly specialised skills.

A good photographer takes us to another place. Whether it’s a beautiful woman looking out of a plate glass window on a light studded landscape, the clean lines of white leather high spec seating systems, or a top of the range stainless steel kitchen with wonderful lighting effects – all these shots are designed to transport us to a better life, to another world full of possibilities. The good product photographer taps into that part of our psyche that wishes to own or possess, and is able to make the fantastical real and achievable.

The many types of product photography bring with them many different skills. The intentions of the landscape photographer will differ immeasurably from the studio photographer, yet a good flexible lens may cater for both. A white background produces a stark image where the viewer can only focus on the product and bright lights get rid of shadows. However, a busy background is fine as long as the product in the foreground is sharp. The photographer then places their own stamp on the shot to make the product special and individual.

There are good product photographers in Leeds and Yorkshire able to visually transport your product to the realms of the ’simply must have’ and the ‘cutting edge’.

Flyers are a popular marketing method used by companies for many years to attract attention for a business and to inform others of what the products or services can do for them. Flyers can be useful in an advertising campaign – but only if the flyers have been thoughtfully and carefully designed and created.

The content is of utmost importance because it is this information that must sell your business to your potential customers. Within this content you must provide them with information of what your business is about, what it can offer and why your business is superior to others within the same market. Written content is an effective way of displaying this information but pictures can speak a thousand words, as the saying goes.

If your flyer features professional photographs of the products you sell or relevant images to support your services, such as the people in your business for example, then these images will grab attention for your flyers and will give readers the information they need about your business and products encouraging them to then read further or enquire. High quality photographs reflect professionalism as well.

In order for commercial photographs to work effectively, each image must look their best and this means a product photographer is required. A product photographer in Leeds and other major cities will be able to give your flyers a new lease of life and thus improve the response from this marketing technique.

Using high quality photographs of your products is essential if these photographs are going to work effectively for you and help you achieve success.

A photograph is extremely useful in advertising because it can provide a great deal of information very quickly. A detailed photograph of a product can show potential customers what the product is like without having to give a long description in text. Often, consumers like to see something before they buy it and when shopping online or from a catalogue it is not possible to physically do this. Product photography combats this problem by showing them the product and offering them the necessary information through the image taken.

Consumers also like to be reassured about the credibility of a company before they become a customer and high quality photographs in marketing materials can reflect professionalism and help encourage trust. Low quality images will reflect the opposite to potential customers and may deter them from using your business in the future.

Photographs are an incredibly useful marketing tool and product photography is of huge significance in business. If you want to promote your products effectively through the use of photographs then you must work with an experienced product photographer.

A product photographer in Leeds, Manchester, London or other cities within the UK will be able to create the ideal product photographs for your business.
