A major event such as Glastonbury Festival provides numerous photographic opportunities for the creative photographer. Not only are there a number of high profile bands playing at music festivals of this calibre, but Glastonbury is also popular with a number of high profile spectators. This year model Kate Moss, actress Emma Watson and singer Pixie Lott were all in attendance and each of these ladies were photographed on arrival, wearing the obligatory ‘Festival uniform’, of boots and hot pants.
This year, on the large screen at the Pyramid Stage, festival organisers screened the England versus Slovenia world cup match for fans. During the game those in attendance were photographed and asked to ‘tag’ themselves in the 1,300 mega pixel photo, when they returned home. The enormous crowd was made up of approximately 70,000 football fans of which, using Facebook, 3,000 have already been tagged. In order to find their face in the masses users can zoom in and around the image to try and spot themselves.
Orange, Glastonbury’s communications partner said,
“This is not only an opportunity for Glastonbury festival-goers to record their participation in this landmark event, but also to be part of a world record attempt as Guinness World Records have officially acknowledged this as an attempt to set the world record for the Most People Tagged in an Online Photo.”
Later in the year many a creative photographer in Leeds will flock to Bramham Park for the Leeds Festival. This year’s line-up includes the legendary Guns and Roses and the popular Marina and the Diamonds, and no doubt numerous photo opportunities.
