The end of Gourmet magazine

November 2, 2009

Production of Conde Nasts’s Gourmet magazine is soon to cease and this month’s November issue of this popular magazine will be the last. This news has saddened many regular readers of the food magazine because Gourmet is believed by many to be the best magazine available in the food market.

Gourmet was first published in December 1949 and since then has attracted a number of dedicated followers. The reason given for the demise of the magazine is the current economic climate. Gourmet readers are accustomed to the magazine featuring adverts of luxurious items and services and once these were no longer available and relevant to the public, the advertising profit was lost and it would appear the magazine failed to adapt fast enough to the new climate.

One of the reasons this magazine has been so successful for such a long time is thanks to the exceptional quality of the food photography featured. Professional highly experienced and creative food photographers were employed by the magazine and never disappointed with the tempting images of food they provided. Gourmet magazine is renowned for its stunning photographs of delicious food to attract the interest and attention of its readers. Combined with the interesting and informative content that explored the issue of food from all angles, this magazine was able to prove itself as one of the most superior food magazines available.

The level of experience and skill a food photographer has can make a huge difference to the quality of food photographs captured for a magazine such as Gourmet. A professional food photographer will be able to make any dish look appealing and delicious and this is vital in commercial photography. Food photography is an important part of commercial photography work, and working with a professional food photographer can help any business achieve great results. A food photographer in Leeds, Newcastle or other towns and cities in the UK will be able to provide stunning shots of food that can work effectively in the food market.
