The shots that sell

May 15, 2010

If a photographer is remunerated for the photographs they have produced then this is known as commercial photography. Several mediums, including magazines, newspapers and advertising agencies, use commercial photography to communicate their ideas and products to the masses.

When there is a product to be sold, whether via pack shot photography, on a website, or via catalogue photography in a magazine, it is worth employing the services of a professional commercial photographer to take the shots.

The commercial photographer takes pictures that are made to illustrate and sell a service or goods. The professional product photographer is a master of taking close up photos of merchandise. The photos they produce are an important stimulus to sales, the goal being to trigger recognition of the product with buyers when they are shopping in store.

Sellers want their customer to recognise the product on the shelf and pick it up to buy it because they are familiar with it. The pack shot photographer assists this process by capturing the product packaging and logo in the photograph. Sometimes, the pictures in question are produced in collaboration with an advertising agency, design firm or with an in-house corporate design team.

Although, because of locality, commercial photographers in Leeds might be approached by companies who are trying to sell Yorkshire branded products, commercial photographers are available nationwide. There are a number of possibilities for producing photographs to help sell products, which allow the seller to reap the benefits of employing a professional commercial photographer.
